Electrician Class II

Purpose:
The Electrician’s on site are responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing our industrial electrical equipment, and any associated electrical and electronic controls, through the usage of specialized computer software. They are responsible for ensuring the company’s power supply to the equipment each day. They are responsible for working with the rest of the Maintenance crew to ensure that our equipment and facilities are operational and completing any necessary electrical repairs and/or upgrades in a timely manner.
Duties:
- Inspect and maintain current electrical systems.
- Ensure current electrical systems comply with local electrical codes and safety standards.
- Provide preliminary planning, sketching, and estimates for the installations, repairs, upgrades, and maintenance of new and current electrical systems.
- Interpret and read blueprints and electrical drawings.
- Lay conduct in walls, temporary partitions, and any other concealed areas as necessary.
- Write, and interpret ladder logic problems (and troubleshoot as necessary).
- Interface with PLC’s on-line to troubleshoot and receive program modifications.
- Maintain open communications, and teamwork, with plant personnel while achieving critical maintenance objectives.
- Perform unscheduled and emergency repairs as necessary.
- This requires being on-call when necessary.
Requirements:
- Journeyman Industrial Control Technologist designation with PLC’s and 3 years of Electrical and Electronic experience in an Industrial setting OR Industrial Electrician license with 5 years of Electrical experience in an Industrial setting.
- Must be capable, and willing, to travel for extended periods of time both within, and outside, of Canada when necessary.
- Must be willing to take extra courses, or training, when necessary.
- Must be capable of working the scheduled, assigned shifts and any required overtime for this position: 8 hours minimum upwards of 12 hours depending on operational requirements.
- Must be capable of operating a computer to monitor PLC’s.
- Must be able to complete written reports and estimates accurately, and in a timely manner.
- Experience working in an industrial environment, specifically in a food-processing environment, is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of production processes and procedures in a varied, and multi-facetted, production environment with a variety of electrical experience would be an asset.
- Must be capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- A team player with strong, technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and leadership skills is highly preferred.
- Must be capable of working in a fast-paced, production-based environment.
- Must be legally allowed to work in Canada.
Working Conditions and Physical Capacities:
This position can be physically demanding with any combination of standing, sitting, walking, bending, crouching, squatting, and stooping on cement floors, in addition to climbing/maneuvering over/around equipment. Disassembling, and re-assembling, equipment may be expected depending on extensivity of electrical repairs needed. Levels of excessive noise can be expected during periods of high production, in addition to working in a heated/cooled environment. Working from heights, or within confirmed spaces, may be expected depending on electrical requirements.
