A. PURPOSE

This internship supports International Freight objectives, assisting and ensuring international shipments are processed and shipped per company and regulatory requirements. Internship acts as liaison with Global Planning, Procurement, Compliance Department, QA, DCs, Plants, Co-packers and Carriers, identifying and resolving operational issues. 

B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Monitors the in-transit movement and delivery of international shipments.

· Tracks container status at US Ports through to empty return to carrier terminal to minimize the impact of demurrage and detention charges. Intervening to take corrective action as possible.

· Maintains container performance dataset to ensure tools are available for fee disputes and root cause analysis. 

· Reports daily regulatory FDA and container arrival status to internal and external parties.

· Interacts with multiple functions that affect International Transportation. 

· Follow-up with appropriate parties to ensure needed actions occur in a timely and accurate manner (i.e., Customs Brokers, Drayage Companies, Freight Forwarders, Ocean Carriers). 

· Collaborate with various departments and business partners to resolve daily operational issues. 

· Supports Vendor Compliance Initiatives, as directed. 

· Supports the processing of vendor invoices and ensures timely resolution of discrepancies.

· Produce Monthly Logistics reports, as assigned. 

· Misc. logistics and analytical projects, as assigned.

· Assist with Import product HTS classification and HTS Matrix updates.

QUALIFICATIONS

· College degree with a BA/BS in logistics, business management, supply chain or equivalent business discipline a plus.

· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with excellent interpersonal skills.

· English and Spanish fluency (written & spoken) a plus.

· Strong analytical skills: able to work with large data extracts, creating formats and formulas to obtain data based next step solutions.

· Ability to function in a multi-task environment.

· Must be able to set priorities and demonstrate a high organizational level in an environment of ever-changing needs. Must be innovative, assertive, and capable of anticipating needs. 

· Accuracy, attention to detail and sensitivity to deadlines.

· Strong teamwork skills including cross-functional collaboration.

· Computer literate: proficient in Excel (ex: able to use filters, pivot tables and V-Lookups to efficiently analyze and manipulate spreadsheet data).

· This position is at an office desk, sedentary work.

COMPENSATION 

The pay for this internship is $21.00 per hour.
