The Lead – Security Officer is BUMBLE BEE SEAFOODS’s first line of defense against risks to property and personnel. It is this person who most often will first detect anything out of the ordinary that could escalate into a major adverse event if proper action is not taken. Equally as important, the Security Officer is an outwardly visible symbol of BUMBLE BEE SEAFOODS; often the first contact a visitor has with BUMBLE BEE SEAFOODS. It is therefore of the utmost importance that Officers exercise their duties with courtesy, tact, dignity. The Security Officer is the most visible measure of BUMBLE BEE SEAFOODS’s attitude toward the security and safety of the employees, the physical refinery, and the total operation. For this reason the description of this position involves many diverse elements.

 

  1. DUTIES

 

The duties of this position are those described below.  This job description does not state or imply that the duties listed are the only duties and responsibilities assigned to this position.  Employees holding this position will be required to perform any other job-related duties as requested by management.

 

  1. Essential Responsibilities:
    1. Access control
    2. Reporting security incidents / abnormalities
  • Providing security briefings as directed by BUMBLE BEE SEAFOODS
  1. Vehicle access
  2. Property control
  3. Monitoring of the daily building activities of employees and visitors to the sit
  • Monitoring CCTV systems
  • Taking a role in emergency situations such as emergency notifications, interface with local law enforcement refinery personnel, and evacuation orders
  1. Supervision and scheduling of Security Officers

 

 

  1. Essential Duties: These duties directly and substantially serve to achieve the purpose of the position:

 

  1. Ensure that all posts and patrols are covered, that all assigned personnel are conforming to the appropriate regulations, and that all assigned shift duties are performed,
  2. Direct Security personnel actions in any event not covered by written regulations.
  • Proficiency in all the tasks required of the Security Officer.
  1. Proficiency in the duties of each post under his/her direction.
  2. Maintain communication both up and down the chain of command.
  3. Be accessible to all Officers under his/her direction.
  • Assist Officers in making appropriate decisions in areas not covered by written directives. The results of these decisions, where necessary, will be passed on to the BUMBLE BEE SEAFOODS EHS Representative.
  • Ensure that all personnel are at their assigned posts at their assigned time.
  1. Responsible for ensuring that all assigned Officers follow all written directives in the performance of security functions.
  2. Check all posts for their overall condition and for the readiness of necessary equipment, reports, and forms.
  3. Handle minor disciplinary problems occurring on the shift and report the results to the EHS Management.
  • Notify personnel on the shift of recent changes in directives, adjustments in posts, and/or personnel changes.
  • Ensure that each assigned person receives the required training and direction necessary to perform the required job.
  • Ensure that all assigned posts and individuals have updated written information such as, but not limited to, policies and procedures.
  1. Patrolling interior and exterior fence line perimeters, consistent with frequencies defined in the FSP.
  • Carry facility provided communication devices.
  • Required to check facility gate locations equipped with access control and CCTV equipment and report damaged or non-working equipment immediately to supervision.
  • Conduct testing calibration and maintenance activities for installed security systems
  • Responsible for inspecting perimeter gates. Locks must be physically hand inspected to ensure the locks and chains are secured with no foreign locks substituted for Company issued locks.
  1. Reporting defective gates.
  • Perimeter fence lines must be inspected continuously throughout the shift.
  • Responsible for identifying inoperative security lighting.
  • Patrols are to be conducted of all parking areas.
  • Inspect “in plant” employee and contractor vehicles for facility vehicle identification permits.
  • Citations will be issued to vehicles that do not conform to the facility vehicle identification program requirements and an incident report filed. It is important to investigate – how did the vehicle get in?
  • Cursory window view inspections of vehicle’s contents may be conducted during parking lot inspections. Unusual situations are to be immediately reported to management.
  • Responsible for ensuring all facility parking regulations are followed.
  • All suspicious activities, individuals, or items must be documented and reported immediately to the designee.
  • Will conduct periodic walking patrols of dock facilities inspecting structural support areas for small crafts hanging on, suspicious packages, suspicious persons, harmful packages or devices or any unusual situations, consistent with frequencies defined in the FSP.
  • Secure designated facility doors.
  • Report and document all suspicious person(s) noticed or encountered while on patrol.
  • Be in charge of security operations during off-shifts when needed.
  • Provide relief to fixed posts as necessary.
  • Responsible for the logging out of all necessary equipment to the Security Officers.
  • Rate performance annually of Officers assigned using BUMBLE BEE SEAFOODS approved performance appraisal tool. In the event of any unusual event or circumstance that warrants the attention of the BUMBLE BEE SEAFOODS EHS Manager, he or she shall immediately and at the earliest practical moment make such notification. As a general rule, if in doubt about the necessity for a call to the BUMBLE BEE SEAFOODS EHS Manager -MAKE THE CALL. In the alternative and if unable to contact the BUMBLE BEE SEAFOODS EHS Manager, the Site Lead Security Officer/Security Officer is authorized to contact the appropriate BUMBLE BEE SEAFOODS Manager if circumstances warrant immediate response or notification.
  • Maintain a file copy of incident reports, reports required under BUMBLE BEE SEAFOODS’s FSP, and reports of theft, loss, vandalism, and safety hazards for a period of 365 days from the date of the report. Files older than 365 days will be turned over to BUMBLE BEE SEAFOODS.
  • Maintain any automated documentation such as logs, incident reports, etc. The Site Lead Security Officer should be proficient in regards to computer skills.
  • Responsible for all additional functions, duties and directions as assigned.
  • Be knowledgeable and participate in all facility drills, exercises and modifications of security profile in response to escalating threat driven by BUMBLE BEE SEAFOODS.

 

  1. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
    1. High School Diploma/GED
    2. Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Security Office, with at least 2 in a Lead position
