PMO Manager

The PMO Manager is a position within the Information Technology department of Bumble Bee Foods. This individual will play a lead role in shaping enterprise level program/project management methodologies, administration, tracking and reporting – a highly visible and key strategic focus within the organization. He/she has responsibility for supporting the management of all internal, as well as, all consultant based contracts through the creation of uniform project management processes and project performance standards and will also be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and tracking all major program components including costs, schedules, resources, deliverables, etc.

The PMO Manager’s charter is to leverage current and continue in building an effective program management function that leverages the skills sets and capabilities of its service centers, technology solutions, processes and experienced personnel – to deliver high quality services that exceed business expectations and that will ensure our continued success as one of the major players in the industry

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide Program Management Office leadership for large client engagements and the establishment of effective IT/corporate PMO methodology, governance, process, structure, training, certification, etc.
  • Enhance current PMO process to assist clients and account/project teams in defining, organizing and prioritizing work in large, complex project environments to achieve a high degree of success, ROI and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain and evolve overall program/project management processes with next generation thought leadership and tools
  • Enhance Project Management best-practices based on measurable success criteria
  • Implement a continuous improvement process relative to project management

 

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years experience in application of Project and Program Management methods
  • 2+ years program office leadership within a large corporate operating environment
  • Prior experience building and managing PMO’s from the ground up
  • Proven track record of successful enterprise level project results
  • Capable of developing a strategic plan and implementing at a tactical level
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Blend of strong execution and strategic leadership
  • Experience introducing and implementing Project Management processes
  • Proficiencies in project planning, scheduling, project control, budgeting, coordinating resources, facilitation, defining processes, identifying barriers, stakeholder alignment, gaining user acceptance, and scope management
  • Formal Project/Program Management methodology training/application (PMP certification or equivalent required)
  • Prior experience conducting or delivering project management training
  • Strong track record of customer satisfaction ratings, ideally with external customers
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field minimum; graduate degree preferred

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS – CHARACTERISTICS – SPECIALIZED SKILLS

  • Familiar with industry standard project management tools
  • Adopting & implementing agile processes within a matrix resource models
  • Quality program assessment or certification experience such as CMMI, Six Sigma, or Lean processes a plus
  • Significant experience in the implementation of enterprise application software is a plus
