Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering department to drive continuous improvement, reliability, and operational excellence at the Snows food manufacturing facility. This role oversees capital projects, equipment upgrades, process optimization, and maintenance strategies to support production goals, safety, and regulatory compliance. The Engineering Manager will also lead a team of maintenance personnel, ensuring timely project execution, equipment performance, and adherence to safety protocols, such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash, and pinch point hazard management.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of boiler operators, maintenance, electricians, and technicians.
- Oversee daily engineering operations and provide technical support to production, maintenance, and safety teams.
- Collaborate with corporate engineering, production, quality, and safety teams to ensure alignment on projects and priorities.
Capital Projects & Process Improvement
- Plan, execute, and manage Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs) for equipment upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and facility expansions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production processes, reduce downtime, and enhance equipment reliability.
- Lead the installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and technology.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance
- Oversee the maintenance strategy for critical equipment, ensuring proactive and preventive maintenance schedules are met.
- Ensure compliance with LOTO, Arc Flash, and pinch point safety protocols to protect team members and contractors.
- Identify and implement predictive maintenance technologies to minimize equipment failures.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with OSHA, FDA, and local safety regulations, including LOTO, Arc Flash, and other hazard management protocols.
- Lead and support safety initiatives, conducting regular safety audits and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Oversee contractor management, ensuring compliance with site safety policies and procedures.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Develop, manage, and control the engineering department’s operating budget.
- Monitor and report on project costs, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion of capital projects.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate engineering and project documentation, including technical drawings, manuals, and regulatory documentation.
- Generate reports on equipment performance, downtime analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
