About the Role

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, well-organized leader, to carry out the technical instruction and record management responsibilities associated with the Company’s Quality Assurance program in accordance with the organization’s policies and the applicable legislation.

The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible but not limited to, ensuring that all products manufactured by the organization meet our customer specifications, are legislatively compliant and achieve superior quality and reliability levels.  This individual will plan, organize, direct and control the activities required to meet all food safety requirements, while monitoring and advising on the performance of the quality management system.

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Actively participate in the development of site Quality procedures and leads efforts toward their effective implementation.
  • Ensures that all Plant Quality personnel are adequately trained to perform their responsibilities and coordinates and supervises their daily activities. Assists in providing Quality training for plant employees.
  • Ensures that all site level product safety & quality procedures and programs are being implemented in an acceptable manner.
  • Ensures the timely review of production records leading to the disposition of all associated product. Communicates disposition and ensures that any product holds are implemented quickly and brought to resolution in compliance with both internal and external requirements.
  • Assists in the development and leads the implementation of In-Process Quality Control systems and measures, communicating outcomes and issues to corporate Quality and site-level management and supervision in a timely manner. Identifies and implements corrective and preventive actions, as required and appropriate.
  • Leads the internal self-assessment/self-audit programs and procedures, reporting results and ensuring follow up action is planned in a timely manner.
  • Participates in all Quality external audits and ensures that we are compliant and all corrective actions are implemented.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • A bachelor’s degree in food safety, microbiology and/or quality assurance programs.
  • A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in Quality Assurance, food safety compliance with extensive knowledge in provincial and national regulations.
  • A minimum of 6 years in a canned seafood manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Sanitation, HACCP and GMP’s.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Experience in laboratory detection and identification of microorganisms.
  • Experience in writing HACCP plans, the development and implementation of quality control procedures and safe food practices.
  • Design, script, introduce and train employees and others on proper process procedures pertaining to GMP.
  • Experience working with computerized inventory control systems, with exceptional skills in time management, organization and documentation.

The tasks involved in this job require a variety of physical activities, such as walking and standing for periods of time within a production environment.
