Director, Revenue & Category Management
Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing, the primary objective of this role is to drive “best in class” revenue management capability within the Revenue Management team and across the organization to maximize revenue, margin and share in Canada.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Lead the price and promotion strategy, leveraging predictive analytics, and knowledge of market conditions and cost changes.
- Set clear strategic and tactical pricing and promotion guidelines by product, channel and region.
- With your team, lead Monthly Business Planning meetings with key customer teams to identify value growth opportunities based on strong analytics and insights, primarily focusing on promotion strategy and instore drivers.
- Own strategic category knowledge and insights using NielsenIQ to identify opportunities for brand and category development.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to ensure success of commercial priorities like innovation, in-store activation, and category leadership.
- Lead the Canadian implementation of an upgraded Trade Planning & Management system (to be identified) for North America, in partnership with the U.S. Director of Business Management.
Drive “Best in Class” Revenue Management Capability
- Utilize the NIQ Trade and Price Optimization (formerly Cornerstone) system to set overall trade promotion and price strategy for our portfolio of products with support from the Price and Revenue Manager:
- Create pricing strategies rooted in predictive analytics, price elasticity, competitive interaction and changes in costs to maximize revenue, margin and share.
- Issue trade promotion direction to the Sales account team.
- Recommend and execute price increases as required.
- Monitor delivery of profit margin by product line & recommend actions to maximize.
- Develop annual operating plans in partnership with Marketing, Sales and Finance to set pricing direction and share projections.
- Liaise with Procurement for future cost and supply changes and act as the critical link for Financial Planning to ensure accuracy of Net Unit Revenue.
- Ensure integrity of master pricing and product hierarchy data.
Lead the Team
- Coach and develop two direct reports: Pricing & Revenue Manager & Trade Marketing Assistant Manager.
- Create an inspiring vision for change, and advocate for that vision throughout the organization and among your key stakeholders (Executive Team, Sales Leaders, Finance, US counterparts).
Deliver the Results
- Drive key business metrics, including:
- Volume and Net Sales.
- Profit improvement.
- Market share.
Build Collaborative Relationships
- Build strong working relationships with Sales, Finance, Consumer Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations and external partners to create one commercial team focused on executing with excellence.
- Positively contribute towards increasing the cohesiveness of the group and take personal accountability to help raise its effectiveness.
- Further strengthen collaboration with US counterparts to share best practices.
Share Category Knowledge and Insights
- Leverage Nielsen analytics to identify key trends and insights and communicate these to the broader team.
- Issue monthly reporting and presentations.
- Monitor competitive activity.
- As needed, develop business reviews on key product lines leveraging Nielsen data
- Identify Portfolio Management opportunities, working with Finance, Sales and Consumer Marketing.
- Support the development of presentations to senior management.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Demonstrated capability of managing pricing and trade spend at a CPG company in Canada.
- Keen to use data analytics to provide actionable insights, with the ability to make decisions and execute.
- A passion to drive results & change agent capability.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, develop and deliver plans to a successful outcome.
- Strong business/financial acumen & familiarity with managing a P&L.
- Data savvy & outstanding analytical skills.
- Advanced sales & category understanding with an in-depth knowledge of grocery retailers in Canada.
- Prior experience analyzing, interpreting presenting Nielsen data insights is a must.
- An exceptional team player. With excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and communication skills.
- Comfortable and capable presenting to senior leadership and can distill complex data into concise communication points.
- Proven ability to effectively achieve results across. functions and organizations through collaboration, negotiation and influence.
- Coaching & Mentoring Skills; challenges people and captures their commitment to achieve superior results.
- Technical skills including advanced Excel capability. Previous experience in CAS, SAP or other TPM solution & COGNOS is ideal.
- University degree in Business or Commerce.
- 10+ years of experience in the CPG Food / Beverage industry in roles involving Pricing and Revenue Management, Trade Marketing or Customer Finance.
- Preference for some Key Account sales experience in Canada.
- Demonstrated capability of managing pricing and trade spend at a CPG company in Canada.
- Keen to use data analytics to provide actionable insights, with the ability to make decisions and execute.

Senior Director Sales
PURPOSE
Manage and motivate the sales efforts of our Retail Food Brokers within the western region to achieve company volume, share and profit goals within budgeted trade-spending parameters. Manage the success of Bumble Bee Seafoods in the Western United States market and their affiliates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Provides leadership to their direct reports to ensure goals are met, while organizing and overseeing schedules, territories, and performance.
- Hires, trains, and evaluates performance for regional and local sales employees
- Develop and execute sales promotion plans to ensure volume, share and profitability goals are achieved using the most effective and efficient fiscal practices
- Manage the broker organization by monitoring market specific goals designed to attain company objectives
- Cultivate professional relationships at all levels of the broker organization to assure expectations are broadly communicated and implemented
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of promotions to avoid un-accrued deductions and ensure accurate financial accounting.
- Aggressively manage deductions to resolution to achieve outstanding balance goals.
- Execute new item introductions utilizing all sales materials and tools to meet or exceed company distribution goals.
- Execute targeted pricing levels to attain company profitability goals, while achieving at least margin parity with key competitors.
- Communicate with customer service, production planning and trade marketing personnel, volume requirements for new and existing products through the completion of accurate monthly forecasts and, as needed, the submission of item alerts for produced-to-order, or large promotional quantities.
- Review business through regular analysis of syndicated consumption data and sales, by customer, segment and item, to identify trends and develop action plans to correct, or capitalize on those trends as needed. Use all key performance indicators to evaluate the health of the business monthly. Understand competitive, price and merchandise relationships and develop business plans accordingly.
- Understand basic Category Management “Best Practices” and utilize these principals in fact-based selling to establish Bumble Bee Seafoods as the leading national seafood supplier in North America. Use all available tools to provide professional sales presentations for the brokers and to the customers.
- Communicate and enforce company policies in a fair and equitable manner with all customers.
- Develop account relationships to establish a direct positive relationship with the customer apart from the broker relationship, to ensure communication channels remain open and Bumble Bee Seafoods is held in high regard.
- Ensure company retail merchandising standards are implemented by training retail sales personnel on product attributes, planogram objectives, shelf standards, rotation policies and point of sale.
- Ensure effective and efficient time and expense management when traveling for the company as outlined by company policy.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards in regard to business dealings with internal and external customers.
- Conduct business in a highly professional and ethical manner with both brokers and customers.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in marketing, or business preferred.
- 7-10 years of Sales and broker management experience.
- Computer literate; intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs.
- Knowledge of syndicated data analysis in a selling platform.
- Able to travel at least 50% of the time for business.

Key Account Manager
PURPOSE
Bumble Bee Foods is posting for two Key Account Manager positions: one for West region and the other for East region. In this position one will be responsible for selling activities for Bumble Bee Foods for the assigned customers. This is a dynamic role in which cross functional partnership is critical. One can expect to work with Sales Leadership, Trade Marketing, Marketing, and Brokers to develop and execute sales plans.
Geographical requirements are as follows. Candidates must be based in one of the following states on the specific position to be considered an eligible applicant:
Key Account Manager – East: Delaware, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island
Key Account Manager – West: Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington

- Lead efforts to develop Category influential plans to secure the best possible shelf merchandising for Bumble Bee items.
- Lead the broker relationship to ensure successful execution of plans.
- Assist in forecasting volume and sharing relevant customer information to ensure accurate deployment of inventory across the supply chain.
- Work across internal departments to resolve any customer issues.
- Work with Trade Marketing to complete and review post-promotional analysis.
- Deliver excellence in Trade Spend system management to minimize pricing and promotional discrepancies.
- Aggressively manage deductions at assigned customers to an expeditious resolution.
- Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards regarding business dealings with internal and external customers
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS DESIRED
- Bachelor’s degree Preferred. Business or Marketing preferred.
- 2-3 years of CPG Sales or Category Management experience
- Computer literate; able to produce Excel spreadsheets, Word documents and PowerPoint.
- Understand and be able to apply syndicated data analysis into sales presentations.
- Fundamental and working knowledge of Trade Fund Management systems and internal sales/shipment reporting systems.
- Experience with CAS (TFM), Cognos and SAP preferred but not mandatory.
- Able to travel at least 25% of the time.
