Director, Revenue & Category Management

Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing, the primary objective of this role is to drive “best in class” revenue management capability within the Revenue Management team and across the organization to maximize revenue, margin and share in Canada.

 

What You’ll Do Here:

 

  • Lead the price and promotion strategy, leveraging predictive analytics, and knowledge of market conditions and cost changes.
  • Set clear strategic and tactical pricing and promotion guidelines by product, channel and region.
  • With your team, lead Monthly Business Planning meetings with key customer teams to identify value growth opportunities based on strong analytics and insights, primarily focusing on promotion strategy and instore drivers.
  • Own strategic category knowledge and insights using NielsenIQ to identify opportunities for brand and category development.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to ensure success of commercial priorities like innovation, in-store activation, and category leadership.
  • Lead the Canadian implementation of an upgraded Trade Planning & Management system (to be identified) for North America, in partnership with the U.S. Director of Business Management.

Drive “Best in Class” Revenue Management Capability

  • Utilize the NIQ Trade and Price Optimization (formerly Cornerstone) system to set overall trade promotion and price strategy for our portfolio of products with support from the Price and Revenue Manager:
    • Create pricing strategies rooted in predictive analytics, price elasticity, competitive interaction and changes in costs to maximize revenue, margin and share.
    • Issue trade promotion direction to the Sales account team.
    • Recommend and execute price increases as required.
  • Monitor delivery of profit margin by product line & recommend actions to maximize.
  • Develop annual operating plans in partnership with Marketing, Sales and Finance to set pricing direction and share projections.
  • Liaise with Procurement for future cost and supply changes and act as the critical link for Financial Planning to ensure accuracy of Net Unit Revenue.
  • Ensure integrity of master pricing and product hierarchy data.

Lead the Team

  • Coach and develop two direct reports: Pricing & Revenue Manager & Trade Marketing Assistant Manager.
  • Create an inspiring vision for change, and advocate for that vision throughout the organization and among your key stakeholders (Executive Team, Sales Leaders, Finance, US counterparts).

Deliver the Results 

  • Drive key business metrics, including:
    • Volume and Net Sales.
    • Profit improvement.
    • Market share.

Build Collaborative Relationships

  • Build strong working relationships with Sales, Finance, Consumer Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations and external partners to create one commercial team focused on executing with excellence.
  • Positively contribute towards increasing the cohesiveness of the group and take personal accountability to help raise its effectiveness.
  • Further strengthen collaboration with US counterparts to share best practices.

Share Category Knowledge and Insights

  • Leverage Nielsen analytics to identify key trends and insights and communicate these to the broader team.
  • Issue monthly reporting and presentations.
  • Monitor competitive activity.
  • As needed, develop business reviews on key product lines leveraging Nielsen data
  • Identify Portfolio Management opportunities, working with Finance, Sales and Consumer Marketing.
  • Support the development of presentations to senior management.

About the Role

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the primary objective of the Sanitation Supervisor is to lead and coordinate all sanitation activities at our Blacks Harbour location. This role will ensure that all quality requirements are met by managing the cleaning and sanitation of processing equipment, utensils, and the entire plant environment.


What You’ll Do Here:

  • Actively involved in representing sanitation requirements in all plant programs.
  • Manage, motivate and provide direct leadership to the sanitation staff.
  • Oversee the cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, surfaces, utensils, and the plant environment by providing direction, working ‘hands-on’ to motivate, and providing technical support to all sanitation employees and other plant employees as required.
  • Plan sanitation requirements and activities by establishing priorities, scheduling, assigning work, and communicating frequently and regularly within a given timeline with sanitation staff and critical stakeholders.
  • Audit and report non-compliance and take corrective actions daily to ensure compliance with all quality assurance food safety requirements.
  • Manage Sanitation operating budget.
  • Monitor, update and audit Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Develop and execute training to meet all job requirements and ensure compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead regular Sanitation meetings with the facility.
  • Order, manage and safely store sanitation inventory.
  • Track and trend critical sanitation metrics (micro swabs, ATP swabs, pre-op deficiencies) to measure performance and achieve improvements while maintaining all standards.
  • Work with stakeholders to troubleshoot and eliminate root-cause issues of non-conformities.
  • Support and execute the Company’s Food Safety programs at the facility in conjunction with Quality Assurance, Microbiology and Food Safety.
  • Support and promote the company’s health and safety program, maintain a safe working environment and ensure continued compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and JHSC recommendations.


What You Bring to the Team:

  • Relevant post-secondary education.
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience, ideally in a food processing facility.
  • Knowledge and experience with Sanitation relating to Food Safety.
  • Implement strategies to protect food from intentional adulteration and to address related requirements that mitigate the risk of widespread harm to public health caused by individuals attempting to contaminate the food supply intentionally.
  • Must be flexible to work night shift and occasional weekends.

The tasks involved in this job require a variety of physical activities, typically involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and lifting weights between 40 and 60 pounds. Effective communication, including talking, hearing, and seeing, is essential for job performance. Hand and finger dexterity are commonly needed.  ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Boiler room maintenance and shift coverage as needed with the use of Automated Controls and PLC equipment and computer assisted equipment. 
  • Ensure compliance with established standards and legislation. 
  • The ability to work or fill-in for continuous shift operations without lateness or absenteeism is important. 
  • Design and make changes to existing Plant Systems as required. 
  • Troubleshoot and perform repairs to auxiliary equipment. 
  • HVAC experience would be considered an asset. 
  • Ozone Depleting Substances permit would be considered an asset.

  • 3rd Class Stationary Engineering License Required.

Purpose:  

The sanitation crew is responsible for maintaining plant sanitation. Using a High-Pressure Hose, the sanitation crew washes and sanitizes each area of production at the end of each day to remove any trace elements of the day’s product (remaining fish pieces/bones/scales) as well as any allergens (Mustard, Soy) that have been used during our sealing and canning process. 

You will be successful in this role by performing the following:

  • Hosing down all machines used throughout the production day using our 950 PSI High-Pressure hoses. 
  • Cleaning production machines using specific instructions and chemicals when required. 
  • Disassemble necessary machines to ensure a thorough cleaning and sanitation. 
  • Reassemble necessary machines once properly cleaned and sanitized. 
  • Removing all traces of any allergens or leftover fish product from production area. 
  • Sanitize equipment following company operating procedures and established practices. 
  • Ensuring all assigned equipment is cleaned and sanitized by shift’s end. 

Requirements: Successful candidates must have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Able to safely operate a 950 PSI High-Pressure Hose. 
  • Medically cleared to wear a respirator during shifts. 
  • Clean shaven (if applicable) to ensure a proper fit of a respirator. 
  • Physically capable of lifting upwards of 50lbs frequently and capable of safely bending, squatting, stooping, crouching, and climbing over and around necessary equipment for sanitation. 
  • Ability to work the evening shift and overtime as required (Hours may fluctuate). 
  • Able to follow instructions for proper, and safe, sanitation of equipment with chlorinated chemicals or acid products. 
  • Able to meet required timelines for cleaning and sanitizing equipment. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • Prior experience/knowledge of sanitation in a food processing environment is preferred.
  • Grade 10 education or higher. 
  • Must be legally allowed to work in Canada. 

Working Conditions and Physical Capacities: 

This position can be physically demanding with a combination of standing, walking, bending, crouching, squatting, and stooping on cement floors in addition to climbing/maneuvering over equipment. Applicants must be physically capable of lifting upwards of 50lb frequently during the duration of the shift. Applicants must be able to work in a variety of hot and cold environments depending on shift needs. Applicants must also be capable of reading in English to understand chemical labels, as well as writing and speaking English to maintain communication with co-workers/supervisor.

Purpose:

The Security Guards are the initial point of contact with visitors entering the facility. The Guards are responsible for maintaining the safety of all personnel within the premises, including visitors as they enter. Our Security Guards are on-site 24/7, working in shifts of 12 hours to maintain a constant presence on site. Guards are responsible for protecting our facility, property, and all personnel on site through rigid security policies and procedures. Enforcing company rules, in addition to those set upon us by Homeland Security and the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, requires all Guards to have a high sense of safety and urgency.

Guards monitor the property through the use of extensive video surveillance, in addition to necessary security checks when necessary. Guards are responsible for monitoring all incoming trucks and visitors to the property and facility, documenting their comings and going through detailed reports, and ensuring all truck weights are as documented. Guards are responsible for directing all incoming calls and responding to any emergencies on property when/if they occur.

You will be successful through the following responsibilities:

  • Enforcing Company Rules for Visitors and Employees and enforcing rules as mandated by Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT).
  • Protect company property, assets, employees, and all visitors.
  • Operate security control room equipment, while following all safety and emergency procedures.
  • Responding to alarms and other emergencies, while monitoring property and facility through the use of over 100 security cameras.
  • Initiate Emergency Response when appropriate.
  • Perform security checks when necessary and inspect, and conduct, searches when applicable.
  • Maintain records of all security related activities, which includes but not limited to weighing trucks and maintain weight records.
  • Monitoring cameras, walkie talkies, and phone lines and direct incoming calls to correct personnel.
  • General housekeeping of shared work area.
  • Control general access to facility/property, including pass management & key access.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience as a Security Guard or similar position (due to Homeland Security Requirements).
  • Completed High School; some college/CEGEP/ vocational or technical training.
  • High degree of accuracy and have the ability to complete detailed reports and documents.
  • Sense of urgency when necessary and have strong customer service skills.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills (a proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel is required).
  • Cooperative attitude and respect for fellow team members.
  • Neat working habits and be willing to maintain cleanliness of Guard Station.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Legally allowed to work in Canada.

Working Conditions and Physical Capacities:

This position can be physically demanding with any combination of sitting, standing, and/or walking for extended periods of time during the duration of the shift. Applicants must be able to pass both a medical exam and background security check. Due to the nature of this job, applicants must be able to work under pressure and maintain a strong attention to detail. Applicants must be able to work in shift rotations of 12 hours, with the inclusion of evenings/nights and weekends.

About the Role

The Business Planning Analyst (BPA) conducts evaluations of current manufacturing processes to assist management with efficient execution of the operating plan.  The BPA works with all departments, documenting findings, and assisting with providing clear explanations to the business.  Under the guidance of the Controller, the BPA serves as multi-functional support to the Blacks Harbour Finance team by assisting with numerous tasks including weekly production cost analysis, monthly balance sheet and income statement preparation, pension plan administration, CIP oversight, cash forecasts, and meeting month end financial close deadlines for manufacturing and marine operations.

The Business Planning Analyst will be involved in various functions within the finance team with the following responsibilities outlined below:

Business Analysis

  • Perform various cost analysis of processes and cost centers for evaluation of business impact
  • Prepare weekly production cost analysis (KPI’s)
  • Assist in preparation of forward-looking standard costs

 Month-End Close

  • Assist the Controller in ensuring meeting financial close deadlines
  • Preparing applicable month-end journal entries in a timely and accurate manner for CLSC and CBMC
  • Update month-end schedules required for balance sheet analysis comparing results versus prior quarter (PQ), year-end (YE) and prior year (PY).
  • Prepare monthly income statement and gross profit schedules
  • Oversee the administration of the company hourly and salaried pension plan, and related reconciliations

Corporate Finance

  • Prepare cash requirement forecasts
  • Fixed Asset validation including construction in progress, capital expenditure additions, retirements, and request for capital expenditures.
  • Review Balance Sheet files and submit to Canadian Corporate office

Audit

  • Assist in assembling supporting documents for the regularly scheduled internal/external audits throughout the year under the guidance of the Controller.

 What You Need to Succeed

  • A related university accounting or finance degree
  • Experience in costing is an asset
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, preferably SAP ECC 6.0, and MS Office Suite primarily Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

About the Role

In this role, you will join a team of employees focused on Fulfillment and Logistics solutions for Domestic and International Operations. As the Transportation and Fulfillment Manager, you will contribute to the company’s continued growth by:

Supporting supply chain and logistics activities associated with the Clover Leaf domestic business and when necessary, assisting other members of the team with tasks in their business units.

This role interacts with internal and external contacts including sales, procurement, demand planning, production, customs brokers, QA, freight forwarders, 3PL’s and government agencies (CFIA/CBSA) ensuring a seamless and timely receipt and shipping of inventory.

Specific Responsibilities include:

· Manage the Outbound Customer Order Process (OTC-Order to Cash):

o Supervise the Customer Service team (Customer Fulfillment Representatives)

o Complete month end reporting and month end closing activities on a timely basis

o Liaise with Sales to address and resolve order blocks and customer service issues at large

o Ensure orders are processed to company standards ensuring customer Requested Delivery Dates (RDD) are attained

· Administer and participate in all claims and Customer deduction investigations (OSD-over, short and damages)

· Oversee transportation budgets and expenses, including negotiating contracts with carriers and vendors to secure competitive rates.

· Monitor and evaluate transportation performance metrics, including on-time delivery, transportation costs, and carrier performance, to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

· Manage Carrier relations and onboarding process for Clover Leaf Domestic

o Inbound (Ocean Freight, Intermodal, Road)

o Outbound

o Customer Pick up Programs

· Manage the third-party payment process for Freight invoices

· Oversee the monthly accrual process for all freight activities

· Liaise with Logistics Coordinators to Mitigate Demurrage and other Accessorial charges on inbound shipments.

· Liaise with all relevant stakeholders as appropriate (Sales, Marketing, Technical Services, Finance, Logistics, Freight Forwarders, 3 PL’s)

· Support and provide backup to other members of the Logistics/Supply Chain team.

· Other duties as assigned by Management.

 

 

 

What You Need to Succeed

· 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Order to Cash value optimization Food and/or related CPG industries.

· Detailed understanding of Transportation activities, with some experience in inventory, supply planning and order to cash

· Experienced with multiple transportation modes (Ocean, Road, Intermodal)

· Understanding of Customs, Brokerage, and International Trade

· Effective problem solver, able to determine root-cause of issues.

· Post-Secondary Education in a Supply Chain discipline

· Solid understanding of SAP- PTP/OTC/APO/SNP portion or other ERP systems

· Well versed in all Microsoft applications

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Fish Plant Workers – NOC 9463

Purpose:

Our Hand Packers are team members responsible for manually packing, and occasionally cutting, our raw product (fish steaks, fish fillets, precut fish, and/or whole fish) into designated cans based on the daily production requirements. These packers are responsible for ensuring the daily production quota is fulfilled to the best of their ability. These Packers pack, or cut, the product for further processing and packaging. They are responsible for visually inspecting the product that reaches them to identify any defects, issues, or problems with the product that render it unfit for further packing. They ensure their product follows Company standards before processing it at their designated workstation. Additionally, they may be tasked with packing their received product according to daily weight requirements (in the case of fish steaks and precut fish), or further cutting their received fish for packing (in the case of fish fillets and whole fish). Lastly, the Hand Packers are responsible for ensuring the cans provided are in good condition (meaning there are no defects, dents, or rips of the can).

 

Duties:

  • Manually packing processed fish (steaks/precuts) into designated cans.
  • Manually cutting fish product to daily specifications (fillets/whole fish).
  • Manually packing their cut product into designated cans.
  • Visually checking received raw product for defects/issues with quality.
  • Ensuring product is in accordance with Company standards.
  • Ensuring product cans comply to Company standards (no rips, tears, defects, dents, peeling).
  • Ensuring placed product conform to daily weight requirements.
  • Packing to meet the daily production quota (to the best of their ability).

 

Requirements:

  • Must be physically capable of standing, and/or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Must be physically capable of packing by hand (this will require some dexterity/movement of all fingers).
  • Must be capable of inspecting fish product (raw or processed) for defects.
  • Must be capable of following Company policies and ensuring product conforms to standards.
  • Must be capable of handling raw fish product for processing.
  • Must be capable of cutting (using Company provided scissors) fish for production (when required).
  • Grade 10 education or higher.
  • Must be legally allowed to work in Canada.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Capacities:

This position can be physically demanding at times, with a combination of standing and/or walking for periods of time during the assigned shift on cement floors. Additionally, the use of Company provided scissors (which are kept sharp and rust-free) require workers to be vigilant with clear eyesight (you must be able to clearly see what you are doing, and what is around you, at all times). Excessive noise may be experienced during periods of high production (dependent on machine production within the facility), as well as cold/hot temperatures above the normal level (depending on machine production within the facility).

These positions listed under NOC Code 94142 are piecework paid positions in our Production/Processing Department. These positions have such titles as SAP Packers, or Hand Table Packers, here at the Blacks Harbour Facility. These positions are responsible for manually, or through the use of our cutting machines, cutting/trimming fish for processing/packaging.

These positions can be tasked with packing processed fish (steaks/precuts) into designated containers/cans for weighing/packaging. They are responsible for visually inspecting their received fish product for any issues with quality, and ensuring their product is in accordance with Company standards.

They are responsible for determining the optimal number, and size, of available selections of their fish product. Lastly, they are responsible for cutting their product to daily production specifications, and packing (either by hand or through the use of company machines) their product into containers/cans for weighing.

 

Duties:

  • Manually cutting fish product to daily specifications.
  • Operating company cutting machines to cut fish product to daily specifications.
  • Manually packing processed fish (steaks/precuts) into designated containers/cans.
  • Visually checking received raw product for defects/issues with quality.
  • Ensuring product is in accordance with Company standards.

Purpose:

These positions listed under NOC Code 94142 are hourly paid positions in various departments throughout the facility. These positions are related to positions such as Machine Operators, Quality Control (QC) Inspectors, and Fish Trimmers that exist within the Blacks Harbour Facility.

These positions are responsible for setting up, and operating, machines to clean, cut, cook, smoke, or otherwise process the fish according to daily production requirements. They may also be responsible for setting up, and operating, machines to can, box, or otherwise package the fish product according to order/shipment requirements.

These positions can be responsible for accurately recording any necessary production information, such as the quality, quantity, weight, date, and the type of product packaged. They may also be responsible for manually checking the raw, canned, and/or packaged fish product for defects and ensuring all product conform to Company standards.

Lastly, these positions can be responsible for checking the raw fish product to determine optimal number, and size, of fish selections, in addition to cutting the product to these specifications before placing product in container/cans for weighing.

 

Duties:

  • Setting up, and operating, machines to clean, cut, cook, smoke, or otherwise process fish as per daily requirements.
