Sealing Machine Feeder

Fish Plant Workers – NOC 9463

Purpose:

Sealing Machine Feeders are responsible for feeding the precooked product onto the Sealing Machine lines. They are responsible for receiving the precooked product (cans of fish), inspecting the product for defects (issues with fish/cans), and separating the defective cans from the approved cans. They are also tasked with ensuring the canned product they send down the line is within company guidelines (fish is confined to within the cans, no bones are present, etc.).

 

Duties:

  • Visually confirming that the cans received from the Precooker are properly precooked.
  • Visually confirming that the cans are without defects of the fish/can.
  • Visually confirming that the product is within company guidelines on appearance.
  • Identifying, and separating, defective/unapproved cans from those that pass inspection.
  • Sending approved cans down the line for further processing.
  • Maintaining (to the best of their ability) continuous flow of the line to minimize disruption.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be physically capable of standing on cement floors for extended periods of time.
  • Must be physically capable of working in one spot for extended periods of time.
  • Must be physically capable working in a limited space.
  • Must be physically capable of bending, lifting, and discarding of trays of products.
  • Must be physically capable of identifying issues with product/cans
    • Must be capable of seeing small defects on cans.
  • Must have a Grade 10 Education (or equivalent).
  • Must be legally allowed to work in Canada.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Capacities:

This position can be physically demanding with any combination of standing, walking, and/or bending for extended periods of time on cement floors. Lifting is required for tray usage (weights are minimal, ~15/20 lbs.). Some hand/finger dexterity is required to manually handle cans/trays. Levels of excessive noise can be expected during periods of high production. Periods of humidity/heat can be expected during hotter months.

Hand Packers (Piecework)

Fish Plant Workers – NOC 9463

Purpose:

Our Hand Packers are team members responsible for manually packing, and occasionally cutting, our raw product (fish steaks, fish fillets, precut fish, and/or whole fish) into designated cans based on the daily production requirements. These packers are responsible for ensuring the daily production quota is fulfilled to the best of their ability. These Packers pack, or cut, the product for further processing and packaging. They are responsible for visually inspecting the product that reaches them to identify any defects, issues, or problems with the product that render it unfit for further packing. They ensure their product follows Company standards before processing it at their designated workstation. Additionally, they may be tasked with packing their received product according to daily weight requirements (in the case of fish steaks and precut fish), or further cutting their received fish for packing (in the case of fish fillets and whole fish). Lastly, the Hand Packers are responsible for ensuring the cans provided are in good condition (meaning there are no defects, dents, or rips of the can).

 

Duties:

  • Manually packing processed fish (steaks/precuts) into designated cans.
  • Manually cutting fish product to daily specifications (fillets/whole fish).
  • Manually packing their cut product into designated cans.
  • Visually checking received raw product for defects/issues with quality.
  • Ensuring product is in accordance with Company standards.
  • Ensuring product cans comply to Company standards (no rips, tears, defects, dents, peeling).
  • Ensuring placed product conform to daily weight requirements.
  • Packing to meet the daily production quota (to the best of their ability).

 

Requirements:

  • Must be physically capable of standing, and/or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Must be physically capable of packing by hand (this will require some dexterity/movement of all fingers).

This position can be physically demanding at times, with a combination of standing and/or walking for periods of time during the assigned shift on cement floors. Additionally, the use of Company provided scissors (which are kept sharp and rust-free) require workers to be vigilant with clear eyesight (you must be able to clearly see what you are doing, and what is around you, at all times). Excessive noise may be experienced during periods of high production (dependent on machine production within the facility), as well as cold/hot temperatures above the normal level (depending on machine production within the facility).

Hermasa Line Packer

Fish Plant Workers – NOC 9463

Purpose:

The Hermasa Line Packers are responsible for hand packing our prepared fish (either whole or pre-cut) into designated slots on our conveyer belts, which sends them along for packaging. These packers are responsible for ensuring the daily quota is fulfilled to the best of their ability. They are responsible for (quickly) inspecting the fish as they pack to ensure the product is still in good quality, separating the good quality product from product that fails quality, packing the approved fish into the conveyer belt slots, and ensuring no slot is left empty (else it disrupts the packaging process).

 

Duties:

  • Inspection of the fish product (whole or pre-cut) as it enters their designated workstation.
  • Packing the product into designated slots on a moving conveyer belt.
  • Ensuring the product they pack is in good condition as they do so.
  • Maintaining a packing speed equivalent to the speed of the motorized conveyer belt.
  • Maintaining a full slot belt for packaging of the product into specific cans.
  • Packing to meet the daily production quota (to the best of their ability).

 

Requirements:

  • Must be capable of standing for extended periods of time.
  • Must be physically capable of maintaining a speed of production equivalent to the speed of the motorized conveyer belt.
  • Must be capable of safely packing product (whole or pre-cut fish) into designated slots on a motorized conveyer belt.

Claims & Collections Coordinator

About the Role

The Collections and Claims Coordinator (CCC) will work closely with, and provide support to the Credit, Collections, and Claims Supervisor (CCCS) to ensure all aspects of accounts receivable are running smoothly.  The CCC will also be responsible for processing customer claims accurately and in a timely fashion by collaborating with employees at all levels within Clover Leaf, Bumble Bee, and our customers to provide clear and professional direction in the management of claim settlement. This will be achieved through the following responsibilities:

  • Processing customer claims accurately, and within a timely fashion.
  • Resolving any matters that may require adjustments to the original claim, including the documentation of any proof of adjustment submitted.
  • Accurately processing customer claims using the Client Accounting Service (CAS) Deduction Management System.
  • Clearing submitted claims within the standard, thirty-day cycle.
  • Collaborating with internal Sales, Customer Service, and Logistics team members to promote resolution of problems/issues as they arise.
  • Developing strong relationships within our Customer Community through professionalism and efficiently resolving concerns.
  • Working with our Customers to provide necessary information with respect to agreements.
  • Preparation of various monthly reports as required by the bank.
  • A monthly review of all unprocessed claims in CAS to determine further action steps, if necessary.
  • A monthly review of Promotion Allowance funding against closed customer claims will be conducted.
    • If necessary, action steps are prepared against potential risks and, follow up on open matters are reviewed in detail.
  • The CCC is expected to assist the CCCS with the following duties/responsibilities:
    • Organize remittance advices and all supporting invoices relating to various promotional and logistics claims.
    • Facilitate payments for outstanding invoices by sending out account statements and contacting customers, as needed.
    • Accounts Receivable inbox management, which includes responding to both internal and external questions and inquiries.
    • Perform daily reconciliation of outstanding claim balances between Client Accounting Services (CAS) and SAP.
    • Acting as the primary back up for the CCCS, as needed (such as vacation days).
  • The CCC follows all standard operating procedures to settle audit differences, including:
    • Issuing credit adjustments to Customer accounts.
    • Assisting with resolving short shipment issues.
    • Proposing changes to internal customer master, pricing, and promotion allowance records.
    • Providing guidance to propose amendments to the Customer master records, where necessary.

 

What You Need to Succeed

  • Completion of Post-Secondary education (Certification, Diploma, or Degree) with a focus on accounting.

PreCut Machine Operators

PreCut machine Operators are team members operating Company cutting machines. These team members are responsible for operating Company cutting machines to cut received product (whole fish) into designated size for production. They are responsible for ensuring the product they use conforms to Company quality standards. They may also be tasked with ensuring their workstation is free of debris.

 

Duties:

  • Operating Company cutting machines to cut product into designated size for Production.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be physically capable of accessing workstation (climbing a few steps are required to access the workstation).
  • Must be physically capable of standing, sitting, and/or walking on cement floors for extended periods of time.

Freezing And Holding Worker

Purpose:

Team Members working in Freezing & Holding are individuals that are among the first ones to receive, and handle, incoming product (fish from the fishing vessels, fish arriving in frozen blocks). These team members are opening the received product (when received via. Trucks) and providing the correct product to be smoked for production (Golden Smoke Fillets). They are also tasked with freezing the fresh product when necessary, collecting product to be used as bait (as well as distributing said bait), and lastly, supplying the correct amount of frozen goods (fish) to the Tank Room for usage. Depending on daily production requirements, tasks may be removed/changed/adjusted to fulfill product necessities. Depending on product supplied (fresh vs. frozen, whole fish vs. precut fish vs. fillets), duties may be adjusted to accommodate product necessities.

 

Duties:

  • Opening raw product (when received in frozen blocks).
  • Providing Production (Golden Smoke) with the appropriate product (fillets).
  • Freezing fresh product (when necessary).
  • Collecting product to be converted into bait.
  • Distributing finished bait when necessary.
  • Supplying the Tank Room with appropriate product in accordance with daily production requirements.
  • Operation of a company lift truck may be assigned on a day-to-day basis (Forklift certification would be a bonus).
  • Depending on daily production requirements, duties may be adjusted when needed.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be physically capable of standing, bending, crouching, and/or walking on cement floors for extended periods of time.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting upwards of 50 lbs. when necessary.
  • Must be physically capable of climbing/descending company ladders.
  • Must be physically capable of handling raw product (fish) when necessary.
  • Must be physically capable of working in a chilled environment.
  • Must be capable of working assigned shifts, in addition to overtime (if required).
  • Must be capable of working weekends if assigned.
  • Must be capable of working shifts upwards of 12 hours in length (includes weekends, if assigned).
  • Forklift certification a bonus, but not required.

These positions are responsible for manually, or through the use of our cutting machines, cutting/trimming fish for processing/packaging.

These positions can be tasked with packing processed fish (steaks/precuts) into designated containers/cans for weighing/packaging. They are responsible for visually inspecting their received fish product for any issues with quality, and ensuring their product is in accordance with Company standards.

They are responsible for determining the optimal number, and size, of available selections of their fish product. Lastly, they are responsible for cutting their product to daily production specifications, and packing (either by hand or through the use of company machines) their product into containers/cans for weighing.

 

Duties:

  • Manually cutting fish product to daily specifications.
  • Operating company cutting machines to cut fish product to daily specifications.

Purpose:

These positions listed under NOC Code 9463 are hourly paid positions in various departments throughout the facility. These positions are related to positions such as Machine Operators, Quality Control (QC) Inspectors, and Fish Trimmers that exist within the Blacks Harbour Facility.

These positions are responsible for setting up, and operating, machines to clean, cut, cook, smoke, or otherwise process the fish according to daily production requirements. They may also be responsible for setting up, and operating, machines to can, box, or otherwise package the fish product according to order/shipment requirements.

These positions can be responsible for accurately recording any necessary production information, such as the quality, quantity, weight, date, and the type of product packaged. They may also be responsible for manually checking the raw, canned, and/or packaged fish product for defects and ensuring all product conform to Company standards.

Lastly, these positions can be responsible for checking the raw fish product to determine optimal number, and size, of fish selections, in addition to cutting the product to these specifications before placing product in container/cans for weighing.

Canning Fish Plant Workers – NOC 9618

Purpose:

The positions listed under NOC Code 9618 are hourly paid positions in various departments throughout the facility. These positions are Heavy Labor positions so applicants can be expected to perform duties related to any and all heavy labor duties.

These positions can be responsible for unloading incoming fish from our fishing vessels as well as transporting the unloaded fish into our processing area for work. They may also be responsible for transporting both our canned goods, and company supplies, throughout the facility (our Plant/Processing areas in addition to our Warehouse areas) manually or through the use of powered equipment (lift trucks or hand lifts).

They can also be tasked with manually handling our frozen fish products, and manually handling our fresh fish products for freezing (for later production requirements). They can be tasked with sorting incoming fish by size, weight, and final destination according to daily production requirements. These positions can be responsible for weighing our canned products to ensure the proper weight specifications are met each day. Lastly, these positions can be responsible for weighing, recording each weight, and packing our fish in ice.

 

Duties:

  • Unloading fish from fishing vessels.
  • Transporting unloaded fish to processing work areas.

Skilled Forklift Operator

Purpose:

Lift Truck Operators are responsible for moving Company product, loaded pallets, or palletized goods, from one storage location to another safely and securely. Operators are expected to operate their Lift Trucks in such a manner that follows all Company policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure all products that are moved are loaded, and unloaded, from the Lift Truck without damage. Operators are expected to maintain a clean drivers abstract at all times.

Operators will be required to complete, and successfully pass, a Company Lift Truck Driving Test. Operators are required to have the necessary skills, knowledge and license to safely, and legally, operate a Lift Truck in a confined, busy production environment. Operators will be required to safely perform their duties in a chilled environment for periods of time during their shift. Lastly, Operators are required to have excellent special awareness (Operators must always remain aware of their surroundings), a strong attention to detail, and the physical ability to perform manual labor if necessary.

 

Duties:

  • Loading/Unloading product (either in containers or on pallets) safely and without damage.
  • Unloading incoming trucks (if assigned).
  • Moving assigned product from one location to another within the facility (or outside, if assigned).
  • Moving palletized products throughout the Freezer area (a chilled environment) when necessary.
  • Maintaining the Company Lift Truck in satisfactory conditions.
  • Regular checks/maintenance of Lift Truck to ensure optimal operations.
  • Compliance to Company standards to ensure no load is damaged while operating Lift Truck.
  • Compliance with all legal regulations to ensure safe operations of Lift Truck.
  • Safe maneuver of load(s) in busy production environment.

 

Requirements:

  • Must have 5+ years of Forklift experience with a clean driver abstract while operating a Forklift in tight, congested areas.
  • Must be able to write, perform, and successfully pass a Company Lift Truck Operator test.
  • Must be able to work well with fellow employees to coordinate movement of loads.
  • Must be able to safely load, and unload, Lift truck with product/goods (either in container or on pallets) and remain accident free while operating Company Lift Truck.
  • Must be a safety conscious worker, who has experience working in a busy production environment.
  • Must be able to obtain a Propane Dispensing Certification, if necessary.
  • Must be able to work the assigned shift, in addition to overtime (if necessary).
  • Must have strong communication skills in both written, and spoken, English.
  • Must have, and maintain, a good attendance and have a strong work ethic
  • Must be detailed oriented with a strong attention to detail.
  • Must be physically capable of manual labor (if necessary).
  • Must be capable of operating a Lift Truck in either hot or cold environments.
  • Must always remain aware of surroundings while operating a Company Lift Truck.
  • Grade 12 education (or equivalent) preferred, but not necessary.
  • Must be legally allowed to work in Canada.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Capacities:

Applicants will be required to successfully pass a Company Lift Truck Operator test. Applicants must be physically capable of sitting for extended periods of time (while operating Lift Truck), as well as extended periods of walking/standing on cement floors when required. Occasional lifting, pushing, and/or pulling may be required depending on production requirements. Applicants must be capable of safely operating a Lift Truck in a busy, congested production environment. Excessive noise levels can be expected during high levels of production. Applicants must be able to operate a Lift Truck in a  chilled environment when necessary.
