About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager Logistics and Customer Service, the Logistics and Customer Service Coordinator assists with order fulfillment functions across key markets within the Bumble Bee Seafoods International territories. You will join a team focused on Logistics and Customer Service solutions that support our Sales and Marketing initiatives.

 

This role interacts with internal and external contacts including sales, procurement, demand planning, production, customs brokers, QA, freight forwarders, 3PL’s and government agencies (CFIA/CBSA/USDC/USDA) ensuring a seamless and timely processing of sales orders.

As a Logistics and Customer Service Coordinator, you will contribute to the company’s continued growth by executing on the following responsibilities:

  • Sales Order processing utilizing SAP/OTC/PTP functionality
    • Order entry
    • Updating shipping dates and customer information
    • Price and deal verification
    • Create Pro-forma Invoices as required
    • Invoicing and billing functions
  • Export Documentation
    • Ensure all documentation meets export regulations pertaining to destination country
    • Complete required Canada Customs entries-CERS etc.
    • Prepare Commercial Invoices
    • Acquire/prepare CFIA/USDC/FDA and other certificates
    • Create Bank drafts as required
    • Proof of documents
  • Freight
    • Prepare shipping instructions
    • Coordinate shipping dates with all relevant parties (carries, DC’s etc.)
    • Confirm freight rates for each shipment
  • Cross Train with other team members (BBSI, Domestic, Blacks) to provide support and back up as required

What You Need to Succeed

  • University degree or College diploma (preferably in Supply Chain Management)
  • 3+ years in a Logistics/Supply Chain/Distribution/Order Fulfillment role
  • Professional designation or enrollment in CCLP/CIFFA/P.Log would be an asset
  • Experienced with multiple transportation modes (Ocean, Road, Intermodal)
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in working with the processing and preparation of sales orders and export documentation.
  • Working knowledge of filing online requests with Government agencies for certificates required for export.
  • Experience working in an SAP environment a definite asset, or a proven track record of work in an ERP environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written English.
  • Proven to be results oriented attention to detail and an ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Possess strong Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel.

Backup Boiler Room Operator

Purpose:

Our Boiler Room Operators are in charge of operating and monitoring on-site boilers to ensure they function safely and efficiently. Their daily responsibilities often include starting and/or shutting down boilers (as necessary), conducting safety and maintenance inspections, tracking water levels, tracking gauges (pressure, steam, etc.), checking fuel supplies, and recording the daily readings. They may also be tasked with performing basic repairs and/or adjustments, controlling the pressure/steam to the rest of the facility, controlling the chemical levels (Ammonia and/or Chlorine), inspecting the fluids used each day, and producing regular progress reports for the Supervisor. They must follow all protocols and regulations to ensure safe operations of the boilers. Additionally, they will be responsible for performing basic assigned tasks during times they are working, but not assigned to operate the boilers (depending on daily requirements, this may compose the majority of their duties).

 

Duties:

  • Boiler room maintenance and shift coverage as needed with the use of Automated Controls and PLC equipment and computer assisted equipment.
  • Ensures compliance with established standards and Legislation.
  • Ability to work or fill-in for continuous shift operations without lateness or absenteeism is important.
  • Able to design and make changes to existing Plant Systems.
  • Able to maintain troubleshoot and perform repairs to auxiliary equipment.
  • On call availability is expected – must be willing, and able, to perform unscheduled and emergency repairs as necessary.

 

Requirements:

  • Must have intermediate knowledge of mechanical, and electrical, trades.
    • Accustomed to performing all aspects of maintenance in a powerhouse setting.
    • Able to read, and understand, detailed blueprints and/or schematics.
  • Must have knowledge and experience with the following:
    • Automated Controls.
    • PLC equipment.
    • Computer assisted equipment.
  • 3rd Class Stationary Engineering License Required.
    • HVAC experience is considered an asset.
    • Ozone Depleting Substance permit is considered an asset.
  • Able to work independently, assume responsibility and have demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Must maintain open communications and teamwork with plant personnel while achieving critical maintenance objectives.
  • Prioritize the needs of the Production Group with frequent communication.

  • Must be able to work the scheduled, assigned times and required overtime for the position; 8 hours minimum upwards to 12 hours maximum depending on requirements.

Working Conditions and Physical Capacities:

This position can be physically demanding with a combination of standing, walking, bending, crouching, squatting, and stooping on cement floors in addition to climbing/maneuvering over equipment. Applicants must be physically capable of lifting upwards of 50lb frequently during the duration of the shift. QA Records Clerk

Purpose:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Records Clerk examines all relevant Quality Control (QC) reports completed from the previous day. They are responsible for ensuring these reports are completed in full, are accurate, and there are no corrections needed. They are tasked with ensuring these reports, as well as any relevant documents they receive, are in compliance with Company practices, and that there are no discrepancies against Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), the Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Program and/or any legally regulated programs (FDA/CFIA). They are responsible for maintaining the physical filing system for all QC/QA records kept on file in their office. Lastly, they may be assigned additional duties to help support the QC Supervisor, the QA Supervisor, and/or any team members working in QC.

 

Duties:

  • Each day, accurately file all reports in the Snack, Steaks and Sardines, and Final folders.
    • Ensure all the relevant information has been entered, matches the product output, and is accurate to what was documented from various cross-facility reports.
  • Reviews received reports for:
    • Accurate timelines.
    • Completed signatures.
    • Accurate temperatures.
    • All relevant information has been completed in the proper places.
  • Complete the following reports daily:
    • Chlorine tests (from the retorts).
    • Histamine tests (to support the Krill/Histamine Inspector).
  • Ensure missing documents are noted and communicated to the Quality Control Coordinator or QC Supervisor promptly.
  • Support the QC team by filling in to help complete visual seam and weight checks when needed.
    • The checks are completed in periods of a minimum of 30-minute intervals; complete the scattered one or two to help support the team on the floor when needed.
  • Provide daily data for sauce amounts, as well as any holds/isolation products, for Cutting review.
  • Complete necessary Corrective Action Form(s) for review by the QC Supervisor and any relevant team members to promptly correct document(s) and/or to process any deficiencies.
  • Immediately communicate any issues that may present a food safety risk to the QC Coordinator, QC Supervisor, and/or Quality Manager.
  • Support the QA Manager, QC Supervisor, and the department in resolving quality issues and preparing for audits.
  • Communicate effectively with various levels of the organization to resolve quality concerns as they arise.
  • Maintains files, work area, and documents in an organized manner.
  • Other duties may be assigned to support the QC team.

 

Requirements:

  • Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer software applications (SAP).
  • Must have experience in an Administrative role.
    • Within an Office Environment is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate the following Behaviors:
    • Must be reliable with a proven record of consistent attendance.
    • Must be conscious of food safety/food handling procedures.
    • Must have a high degree of accuracy for reporting/documentation.
    • Must have a sense of urgency to attend to any corrections promptly after notice.

  • Must be flexible to work beyond the normal shift end when needed, 8-hours minimum upwards of 12-hours maximum (including any assigned overtime).
  • Must have a minimum of a Grade 12 education or equivalent.

This position can be physically demanding with a combination of standing, walking, sitting, and/or bending for extended periods of time during the shift. The ability to operate a computer is expected, as well as looking at the screen for extended periods of time during the shift. The ability to work in a Quality Inspector role (manually handling cans) is necessary.

Security Constable (Casual Position)

Purpose:

The Security Constables are the initial point of contact with visitors entering the facility. The Constables are responsible for maintain the safety of all personnel within the premises, including visitors as they enter. Our Security Constables are on-site 24/7, working in shifts of 12 hours to maintain a constant presence on site. Constables are responsible for protecting our facility, property, and all personnel on site through rigid security policies and procedures. Enforcing company rules, in addition to those set upon us by Homeland Security and the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, requires all Constables to have a high sense of safety and urgency.

Constables monitor the property through the use of extensive video surveillance, in addition to necessary security checks when necessary. They are responsible for monitoring all incoming trucks and visitors to the property and facility, documenting their comings, and going through detailed reports, and ensuring all truck weights are as documented. Additionally, Constables are responsible for directing all incoming calls and responding to any emergencies on property when/if they occur.

NOTE: This is a Casual position, meaning this position acts as a fill-in for Vacation, Sick Days, missed shifts, etc. This is NOT a Full-Time position.

Duties:

  • Enforcing Company Rules for Visitors and Employees.
  • Enforcing Rules as mandated by Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT).
  • Protect company property, assets, employees, and all visitors.
  • Operate security control room equipment, while following all safety and emergency procedures.
  • Responding to alarms and other emergencies, while monitoring property and facility through the use of over 100 security cameras.
  • Initiate Emergency Response when appropriate.
  • Perform security checks when necessary and inspect, and conduct, searches when applicable.
  • Maintain records of all security related activities, which includes but not limited to weighing trucks and maintain weight records.
  • Monitoring cameras, walkie talkies, and phone lines and direct incoming calls to correct personnel.
  • General housekeeping of shared work area.
  • Control general access to facility/property, including pass management & key access.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must have prior experience as a Security Guard or similar position (due to Homeland Security Requirements this is non-negotiable).
  • Must have completed High School; some college/CEGEP/ vocational or technical training.
  • Must have a high degree of accuracy and have the ability to complete detailed reports and documents.
  • Must have a sense of urgency when necessary and have strong customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have strong computer skills (a proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel is required).
  • Must have a cooperative attitude and respect for fellow team members.
  • Must have neat working habits and be willing to maintain cleanliness of Guard Station.
  • Must have excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Must have a strong attention to details.
  • Must be legally allowed to work in Canada.

This position can be physically demanding with any combination of sitting, standing, and/or walking for extended periods of time during the duration of the shift. Applicants must be able to pass both a medical exam and background security check. Due to the nature of this job, applicants must be able to work under pressure and maintain a strong attention to detail. About the Role:

We are looking for a Production Planning Coordinator to join our team at Connors Bros. in Blacks Harbour. Reporting to the Director, Plant Operations, as the Production Planning Coordinator, you will be responsible for forecasting demands for each SKU produced in our facility for domestic and international markets based on sales projections.

To be successful as the Production Planning Coordinator you should demonstrate strong collaboration skills through working with a variety of teams, organizational skills to meet customer demands and problem-solving skills to adjust plans based on unforeseen challenges.

How You Make a Difference:

  • Ensure there is sufficient supply of finished goods in the correct SKUs to ensure the optimal amount of product is shipped for customer orders
  • Maintain monthly production plans based on budget and forecast requirements. Advise production team of any gaps that exist between budgeted and forecasted amounts.
  • Provide direction to the production team on what cover to pack and the amounts required daily to meet production requirements.
  • Provide the packaging team with monthly requirements for the department to produce and wrap to plan based on product requirements.
  • Working with the team leaders, problem solve any unexpected production or packaging challenges.
  • Provide weekly and monthly production reports to finance and production.
  • Liaise between sales, marketing, and logistics for production related issues at the plant.
  • Lead weekly meetings with sales and logistics to review pack plans, production-to-date file, product availability and future requirements.
  • Issue new and update material numbers and issue new or update current BOM’s in SAP.
  • Work with the Packaging Coordinator and marketing to make sure artwork changes or new artwork are completed and approved in time to run production to meet marketing and sales requested ship dates.
  • Manage inventory of soya, sunflower and olive oil, and sauce blends as well as packaging materials.
  • Work with purchasing team to have orders placed to ensure timely delivery.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in food manufacturing knowledge of processing environment and packaging best practices

Prep Crew II

Purpose:

The Prep Crew in the Cafeteria are responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving food to the Company employees. Following established recipes and/or menu, the Prep Crew prepare the daily meals and/or baked goods as per guidelines. While the regular menu does not change, the Prep Crew should be ready to deviate from the normal menu as per the daily special/special orders. The Prep Crew are tasked with preparing the ingredients and workstations each morning, recording each pre-order as they receive them, receiving payment, and preparing the food to be picked up at the specified time. Additionally, the Prep Crew are tasked with preparing so many regular items in advance of each break or lunch, to account for non-pre-ordered food orders. Lastly, the Prep Crew are responsible for ensuring the onsite Coolers & Vending Machines are stocked each day, monitoring stock levels, receiving stock orders as they arrive, cleaning used dishes when time allows, and cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen each day.

 

Duties:

  • Perform routine kitchen tasks.
    • Ensure that all food is received, stored, and prepared according to company standards.
    • Label, organize, and stock all ingredients on shelves so they are easily accessible.
    • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking/baking.
    • Ensure that all food items are stored properly.
    • Set up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes.
    • Follow the created Prep List, which assigns daily tasks.
    • General kitchen duties (stocking cooler/vending machines, cleaning/sanitizing workstations, washing dishes, emptying trash, etc.).
  • Prepare cooking and baking ingredients daily.
    • Washing and chopping vegetables.
    • Cutting meat.
    • Other meal preparation as necessary.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment in a clean and sanitary manner.
    • Follow standard food safety practices & sanitation guidelines.
    • Follow cleaning schedules as assigned.
    • Follow strict regulations on personal hygiene while in the kitchen.
  • Undertake basic cooking duties, such as reducing sauces and parboiling food.
  • Assist with preparation and execution of special events (i.e., Employee BBQ, Turkey Dinners, etc.).
  • Assist with preparation and presentation of meals and snacks in accordance with company recipe and production guides.
  • Assist with the transportation and storage of food and supplies.
  • Sell food, coffee, & baked goods during peak times (breaks & lunch).
  • Provide a high level of customer service.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be physically capable of:
    • Lifting upwards of 50 lbs. frequently to unload shipments/deliveries.
    • Standing in one spot on cement floors, or within a small area.
    • Mixing, blending, chopping, or any variation to prepare food and/or baked goods.
      • Some dexterity is expected to perform these duties.
    • Must have prior experience in food preparation and service.
      • Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen.
      • Knowledge of basic food handling, preparation, and cooking techniques.
      • Knowledge of basic customer service.
      • Food handlers permit as required by provincial law and/or Company standards.
    • Must be capable of basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
      • The ability to communicate effectively in English is required, any additional language proficiency is an asset.
      • The ability to read, and understand, any written recipes, food guides and/or food terminology is necessary.
    • Must have clean work habits.
      • Must be organized when handling stock.

      • Must have good attention to detail to identify any bad product.
    • Must be able to perform duties in a fast-paced atmosphere (peak times).

Retort Hauler

Purpose:

Retorting is a processing method that uses heat and pressure to sterilize food. The Retort Hauler is responsible for removing cooked product on carts from the retort and staging the product in the designated area.

 

Duties:

  • Unload retorts by pushing or pulling carts on to the ramps and then into the tippers.
  • Move carts to designated/restricted area.
  • Enter data into SAP to produce tags with product and processing details.
  • Complete tracking card to confirm cooked product has completed its process in the retort.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be physically capable of frequent exposure to heat and noise, along with greater than average walking with heavy pushing and pulling.
  • Good written and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work the scheduled, assigned times and required overtime for the position.
  • Computer fundamental skills are required (email, SAP data entry).
  • Must be reliable, honest, alert and safety conscience.
  • Ability to work independently, assume responsibility and can remain calm under pressure.

About the Role

As the Accountant, you will contribute to the company’s continued success by performing various accounting related tasks including regular cost analysis for manufacturing operations, monthly period end GL entries and statement preparation. This includes:

  • Complete month end close activities related to GL accounts using various tools including SAP and MS Excel
  • Prepare / Post Approved Journal Entries / Scanning and attaching into SAP

  • Assist in developing and documenting systems policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls.
  • Maintain and improve processes and controls associated with manufacturing costs and inventory valuation
  • Represent Finance and Accounting on teams designed to improve operations, reduce costs, etc.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, the Marketing Manager leads the execution of marketing plans across key markets in the Caribbean and Central America.  Your mission will be to build the equity of our brands and deliver short and long-term share, revenue and profit targets.

As the Marketing Manager, you will contribute to the company’s continued growth by executing on the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with our exclusive distributor partners in the Caribbean and Central America. This will support building an understanding of local consumers & facilitate excellent execution of our marketing plans.  The same applies to relationships with our external agency partners.
  • Build strong working relationships with Sales/ Finance/Supply Chain/Operations to create one commercial team focused on executing with excellence.
  • Positively contribute to the marketing team, increasing cohesiveness and taking personal accountability to help raise its effectiveness.
  • Develop & execute annual marketing plans for our 2 priority brands across the Caribbean and Central American markets.
  • Develop consumer communication campaigns across the marketing mix, in partnership with agencies and in-market distributor partners.  Must have the ability to assess and influence creative to deliver “top-tier” communications.
  • Manage & execute packaging development across multiple brands, products & languages.
  • Ensure flawless execution of consumer communication across key touchpoints including digital/social, traditional media and in-store.
  • Manage marketing budgets effectively ensuring programs are delivering to objectives. 

What You Need to Succeed

  • University degree in business.
  • 5+ years of marketing experience required in the consumer-packaged goods industry.  Strong preference for Food / Beverage experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, develop and deliver plans and programs to a successful outcome.
  • Experience managing packaging design.
  • Proven track record of executing integrated marketing campaigns across media channels.
  • Strong command of digital marketing including websites, social, search, & influencer marketing.
  • Technical skills including MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel and Nielsen Market Track.
  • Experience working with market research suppliers to uncover actionable consumer insights.
  • Culinary mindset.  Has a passion for food and cooking and an appreciation for seafood.
  • An exceptional team player.  This is a lean and highly collaborative team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and communication skills.
  • Shows initiative.  A self-starter, proactive and passionate.  Thrives on delivering results.

Hand Packers (Piecework)

Fish Plant Workers – NOC 9463

Purpose:

Our Hand Packers are team members responsible for manually packing, and occasionally cutting, our raw product (fish steaks, fish fillets, precut fish, and/or whole fish) into designated cans based on the daily production requirements. These packers are responsible for ensuring the daily production quota is fulfilled to the best of their ability. These Packers pack, or cut, the product for further processing and packaging. They are responsible for visually inspecting the product that reaches them to identify any defects, issues, or problems with the product that render it unfit for further packing. They ensure their product follows Company standards before processing it at their designated workstation. Additionally, they may be tasked with packing their received product according to daily weight requirements (in the case of fish steaks and precut fish), or further cutting their received fish for packing (in the case of fish fillets and whole fish). Lastly, the Hand Packers are responsible for ensuring the cans provided are in good condition (meaning there are no defects, dents, or rips of the can).

 

Duties:

  • Manually packing processed fish (steaks/precuts) into designated cans.
  • Manually cutting fish product to daily specifications (fillets/whole fish).
  • Manually packing their cut product into designated cans.
  • Visually checking received raw product for defects/issues with quality.
  • Ensuring product is in accordance with Company standards.
  • Ensuring product cans comply to Company standards (no rips, tears, defects, dents, peeling).
  • Ensuring placed product conform to daily weight requirements.
  • Packing to meet the daily production quota (to the best of their ability).

 

Requirements:

  • Must be physically capable of standing, and/or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Must be physically capable of packing by hand (this will require some dexterity/movement of all fingers).
  • Must be capable of inspecting fish product (raw or processed) for defects.
  • Must be capable of following Company policies and ensuring product conforms to standards.
  • Must be capable of handling raw fish product for processing.
  • Must be capable of cutting (using Company provided scissors) fish for production (when required).
  • Grade 10 education or higher.
  • Must be legally allowed to work in Canada.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Capacities:

This position can be physically demanding at times, with a combination of standing and/or walking for periods of time during the assigned shift on cement floors. Additionally, the use of Company provided scissors (which are kept sharp and rust-free) require workers to be vigilant with clear eyesight (you must be able to clearly see what you are doing, and what is around you, at all times). Excessive noise may be experienced during periods of high production (dependent on machine production within the facility), as well as cold/hot temperatures above the normal level (depending on machine production within the facility).
