The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering department to drive continuous improvement, reliability, and operational excellence at the Snows food manufacturing facility. This role oversees capital projects, equipment upgrades, process optimization, and maintenance strategies to support production goals, safety, and regulatory compliance. The Engineering Manager will also lead a team of maintenance personnel, ensuring timely project execution, equipment performance, and adherence to safety protocols, such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash, and pinch point hazard management.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of boiler operators, maintenance, electricians, and technicians.
• Oversee daily engineering operations and provide technical support to production, maintenance, and safety teams.
• Collaborate with corporate engineering, production, quality, and safety teams to ensure alignment on projects and priorities.

Capital Projects & Process Improvement

• Plan, execute, and manage Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs) for equipment upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and facility expansions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production processes, reduce downtime, and enhance equipment reliability.
• Lead the installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and technology.

Equipment & Facility Maintenance

• Oversee the maintenance strategy for critical equipment, ensuring proactive and preventive maintenance schedules are met.
• Ensure compliance with LOTO, Arc Flash, and pinch point safety protocols to protect team members and contractors.
• Identify and implement predictive maintenance technologies to minimize equipment failures.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure all engineering activities comply with OSHA, FDA, and local safety regulations, including LOTO, Arc Flash, and other hazard management protocols.
• Lead and support safety initiatives, conducting regular safety audits and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Oversee contractor management, ensuring compliance with site safety policies and procedures.

Budgeting & Cost Control

• Develop, manage, and control the engineering department’s operating budget.
• Monitor and report on project costs, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion of capital projects.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate engineering and project documentation, including technical drawings, manuals, and regulatory documentation.
• Generate reports on equipment performance, downtime analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

etc.

Perform maintenance and repair of forklifts as required.

Disassemble and assemble fillers for sanitation in a timely manner.

2. Other Duties

Ensure maintenance shop is clean and orderly and assist with any clean up needed. 

Operate forklifts, scissor lift, boom lift and other industrial trucks/lifts as necessary.

Assist with painting of facility as required.

Handle basic electrical work as required.

Perform any other duty as assigned.

• Prepares the annual budget and latest estimate forecasts
• Coordinates the month end and year end closings
• Prepares accurate and timely monthly financial statements and delivers such results in accordance with the accounting timetable.
• Prepares reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs and explains variances.
• Prepares timely and accurate journal entries, as required in completing the monthly financial close process.
• Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Reviews and approves all Capital Project CERs before submission to Corporate.
• Forecasts Capital Spending on a monthly basis.
• Prepares and maintains validation schedules to ensure general ledger accounts reconcile to sub ledger records.
• Ensure plant expenses are posted correctly to the proper accounts and cost centers.
• Approve requisitions, purchase orders and invoices as needed.
• Supervises finance team

• Assist Plant GM with various analyses as directed.
• Support Operations in analyzing factory performance

Food Defense Responsibilities

• Engage in our “see something say something” Food Defense Program. This will include any necessary training requirements upon hire, then annually. Employee must follow all aspects of the Food Defense Plan and have specific training in their area.

Responsibilities to include the following:
