Coronado 4th of July Runners Will Track Their Run and Trace Their Catch
SAN DIEGO (June 19, 2017)
– Runners are accustomed to tracking their running results, but Coronado’s own Crown City Classic offers added tracking thanks to a unique sponsorship by Bumble Bee Seafoods and their Trace My Catch Program. All runners of this annual 4th of July event, produced by Easy Day Sports, will receive one of Bumble Bee’s delicious Seasoned Tuna Pouches with a convenient spoon packed right in the pouch for a healthy post-race snack. Racers will be encouraged to trace the origins of their tuna pouch by going to www.bumblebee.com/TraceMyCatch and entering the production code on the back of the pouch to see when and where it was caught, processed and packaged. Runners will also check their own race results online, sponsored by Bumble Bee Seafoods.

“We are excited to participate in and sponsor the Crown City Classic,” said Chris Lischewski, Bumble Bee president and CEO. “As a provider of premium quality protein products and an advocate for living a healthier lifestyle, the event aligns nicely with our company’s mission and allows us to support a worthy local initiative in our hometown city.”

Jamie Monroe, Easy Day Sports race director, feels that a partnership between the Crown City Classic and Bumble Bee Seafoods is one that makes sense. “I think runners will appreciate the introduction to the Trace My Catch program and the symbolic connection to tracking their own results. Runners naturally like to know how they rank, but more importantly are very health conscious and like to know where their food is coming from,” Monroe said. “We’re excited to have Bumble Bee Seafoods as an official sponsor.”

The Crown City Classic is Coronado’s traditional and official Independence Day running event, in its 43rd year. Runners can choose a 12K (7.4 mile run), a 5K or the half-mile kids’ fun run. The first race time is 7 a.m. on July 4 and all races will be completed by the time Coronado’s famous 4th of July parade begins. The flat course begins at Tidelands Park and offers beautiful views of the bay along the route. All participants will receive an official race t-shirt, commemorative finisher’s medal and professionally chip-timed finisher results. Registration is open online at crowncityrun.com.
