I Love A Clean Planet

On March 20th, 54 volunteers from The Bumble Bee Seafood Company rallied in support of Global Recycling Day. Together, from separate locations all across the U.S. and Canada, employees participated in a remote cleanup event and collectively picked up 278 pounds of trash and recyclables in their respective communities.

The event, called “I Love A Clean Planet”, was powered by the environmental organization I Love A Clean San Diego, who is headquartered in the same city as Bumble Bee. A central feature of the event was a data collection map, which shows the various locations and pounds of trash and recyclables collected by team members. The Bumble Bee Seafood Company will update this map throughout the year to reflect the many cleanups their locations will take part in, showing how small, local actions can make a bigger, global impact.

We not only participate in cleanup activities but ensure a majority of our own packaging is highly recyclable. 76% of the company’s packaging is made from metal, which in the US, is recycled at a rate of 74%, making metal one of the most often and easily recycled materials. In 2021, just 4% of our products are packaged using non-recyclable materials, and we aim to achieve less than 2% by 2025.
